Healing Through Creative Expression

Art has the power to reach places words cannot touch. When you're navigating anxiety, processing grief, or seeking deeper self-understanding, creative expression offers a unique pathway to healing - a way of discovering what you didn't know you knew, of giving shape to feelings that have no name.

In art therapy, the focus is entirely on your experience and your process. There's no pressure to create something beautiful or meaningful to anyone else. The marks you make, the colors you choose, the forms that emerge - these become a language for exploring emotions, memories, and insights that talk therapy alone may not reach. You don't need any artistic skill or experience. This isn't about making art; it's about using creative materials as tools for self-discovery and transformation.

Whether you work with paint, clay, collage, drawing, or sculpture, the materials meet you where you are. Through the act of creation, you can access and express what feels difficult to articulate. You can honor both the visible surfaces of your life and the hidden layers beneath - the struggles no one sees, the small victories, the moments of transformation that belong to you alone.

The Space

The space where we work together is first and foremost an art studio - a creative environment filled with paintings, prints, and the evidence of art-making in progress. Art happens here authentically, and through that process, healing naturally unfolds.

You'll find me working alongside you, making my own art while you make yours. This creates a shared atmosphere of creative energy where risk-taking feels safe and experimentation is welcomed. When we're both engaged in the act of making, the pressure dissolves. There's no performance, no need to create something meaningful for anyone else. The studio simply holds space for whatever wants to emerge.

A range of materials awaits - paint, clay, collage, drawing supplies - and you choose what calls to you. If the blank canvas feels overwhelming, an initial prompt can help you begin, but the direction remains yours. You can speak about your work or let it stand on its own. At the end of a session, you might be asked simply: "How did that go?" - an invitation to notice your own response to the experience.

The creative act itself is healing. When you take risks with materials, when you see a struggle on the canvas resolve or witness a failure transform into something unexpected, you're experiencing life in microcosm. Creative empowerment - discovering that you can create, express, and navigate uncertainty - naturally extends beyond the studio walls.

How We Work Together

Getting Started

Begin with a free 30-minute consultation where we'll discuss what brings you to therapy, answer your questions about the art therapy process, and determine if we're a good fit. This is a conversation, not a therapy session - it's an opportunity for you to get a sense of what I offer and how it would be working with me.

Session Format

Sessions are tailored to your needs and preferences. During our initial session, we'll agree on a session length that works for you - typically between 45 and 90 minutes. After the initial session, therapy involves a commitment to a series of 6 sessions, which can then be extended as your journey unfolds.

Location & Materials

Sessions are available in-person at my studio in Ballenstedt or via Zoom.

In-person: All basic art materials are provided - paint, clay, drawing materials, collage supplies, and more. You're welcome to bring specific materials if you prefer, but generally everything you need is here.

Telehealth: We'll discuss what materials to gather before our first session. Basic materials are fine to start, you don't need specialized art supplies at the beginning, as your art journey progresses you will learn what you want.

Investment

I generally avoid using the word investment, but i feel it fits here, you're committing resources toward your own growth, well-being, and creative empowerment. An investment is something that appreciates in value over time, enriching every aspect of your life.

Sessions are €65 for a standard session, with fees adjusted proportionally for longer sessions. Payment is private only. Insurance reimbursement is not available.
